What is
Wirephoto.com? Wirephoto is a
company dedicated to providing services to freelance
photographers shooting for publication. We are working to help
freelancers keep competitive in the rapidly changing world of professional
photography. To achieve this, Wirephoto offers two web-based software
tools: the Photodesk and the Lightboard.
What is the Wirephoto "Photodesk"?
The Wirephoto Photodesk is an alternative to working with
a photo-agency. By placing photographs on the Photodesk, photographers gain the
advantage of being part of a "one-stop-shop" where photo-editors can search a
single site for photographs from many different photographers.
Isn't the Photodesk just another
online agency? The Photodesk is not an agency. Once a potential customer finds
a photograph he/she is interested in licensing, that customer contacts the
photographer directly. The Photodesk serves only as a directory to match
photographs, photographers, and photobuyers. Wirephoto does not take any
percentage of your sales, nor do we get in between you and your customer in any
other way. We simply provide the software that helps you interact more professionally with
your clients.
What is the Wirephoto "Lightboard"? The Lightboard is
software
that allows individual photographers to safely, easily, and privately show
and deliver full-resolution photographs to multiple clients, all
the while retaining complete photographer control over copyright, distribution, and
licensing fees.
What is the difference between the Photodesk and the
Lightboard? The Photodesk is a public system while the Lightboard
is a private system. Any websurfer can search the Photodesk, but
only clients you authorize can view your Lightboard or download full-resolution
files from your Lightboard. It can also be integrated directly into your
home page, so that the software can be identified with your business.
The Lightboard is powerful image-distribution software and can be an important complement
to the Photodesk: once a potential client contacts you after finding
your pictures on the Photodesk, you can give that client a look at a more
extensive edit of pictures on your password-protected Lightboard. If you
and your client agree to licensing terms, you can then instantly allow the client
to download the full-resolution file from your Lightboard. |
